Known in the industry as Marine Grade Stainless Steel, Band-It’s 316 Coated Stainless Steel Band has been given the moniker due to its high level of resistance to saline and harsh weather conditions.
Available in a number of sizes, the band is coated in a PPA 571 coating which is classed as one of the most durable in the world so you begin to see where this its reputation of being a tough and resilient piece of equipment comes from.
Due to its high level of resistance the band often sees use in the marine industry, the food preparation industry, benches, sub-sea applications and equipment in laboratories and in water filtration where the band wont corrode or rust from exposure to such environments.
It might have a high level of resistance but that doesn’t mean the band can’t take a good amount of stress like its smaller cousins the 201 and 304 stainless steel band. If you use this band you can be assured that it’s tough as well as resilient.
The Material properties of the PPA Coating
316 Stainless Steel is often referred to as Marine Grade steel which withstands exposure to harsh weather, salt water or sub-sea conditions.
316 Stainless Steel contains an addition of Molybdenum (comparing to 304) that gives it improved corrosion resistance. This is particularly apparent for pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.
